Overview
The Education Services Advisor plays a vital role in supporting students' academic and career development within a university setting. This position involves providing personalized guidance, conducting informational sessions, and fostering student success through mentoring and advising. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, experience in education administration, and a passion for helping students achieve their goals. Candidates with university experience and expertise in tools like Ellucian and PeopleSoft are highly valued. Roles/Responsibilities:
Promote lifelong learning opportunities through degree programs using tuition assistance (TA), testing opportunities, credentialing assistance (CA), Reserve Component-Student Loan Repayment Program (RC-SLRP) and any GI Bill Program available to Soldiers and family members. Responsible for providing support services to assist Government professionals in the delivery of adult education services at one of 14 separate USAR Education Centers across the U.S. Assist in the delivery of adult education programs such as Tuition Assistance (TA), Credentialing Assistance, Reserve Component-Student Loan Repayment Program, all GI Bill Programs, and review of Soldier’s academic history. Work availability is between the hours of 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, except federal holidays or when the government facility is closed for administrative reasons.Qualifications/Certifications:
- U.S Citizen with a Bachelor’s Degree from a college or university accredited by a national or regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and at least two years of relevant work experience in advising or education services.
- Relevant work experience may also count toward the time in a completed education-related/advisor internship toward the two-year acceptable work experience.
- An Associate’s Degree from a college or university accredited by a national or regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree if coupled with at least four years of relevant work experience in advising or education.
- Contractor staff must have proficient knowledge and expertise in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Able to read, write, speak, and understand English to effectively carry out applied printed rules, detailed orders, instructions, and training material.
- Have a command of both the written and spoken English language to properly, clearly, and effectively communicate in person or via electronic devices (telephone or e-mail) with co-workers, customers, and the general public.
- Candidates must possess a working knowledge of computer operations and be able to use web-based education systems successfully.
- Candidates should be able to operate basic office equipment, e.g., photocopier, scanner, facsimile, multi-line phone/voicemail systems, and basic computer programs.
- Candidates must be able to follow procedures IAW SOP or similar written directives to monitor and record usage of facilities during scheduled hours of operation, ensure facilities are empty and secured when not in use, track facility key usage, and report discrepancies.
- They must maintain and replenish literature/literature racks, publications, electronic and print bulletin boards, waiting areas, etc., neatly and professionally.
- Provide general assistance to clients enrolling in the Army approved education services portals, ArmyIgnitED 2.0.
